The Lions Clubs of Fairfield Glade and Crossville are 2 months
away from our 1st Fundraising Event of the year, our 8th Annual
Strides Walk for Diabetes Awareness.
Each year we have succeeded in raising more money than the previous year. I
hope that this trend continues as the need is great.
Our Motto as Lions is "WE SERVE"
We are looking for more support for our WALK so please consider joining us. We
offer GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE levels (see attached). Wouldn't it be nice
to have 2 or 3 banners displaying the names of individuals and local companies
as part of this event!!! I hope to see you at Stone Memorial High School
on Saturday, April 26 and for those of you who have walked with a Group, I
hope you will join us again. Strides Walk forms are below!
Some HISTORY: This event supports children in Cumberland County aged 8-15
with Type 1 Diabetes with sponsorships to the Tennessee Camp for Diabetic
Children (TCDC). This is a life altering experience funded by Lions Strides
Walk. It costs $650 or $975 for 1 week or 2 weeks. Marsha Polson, the Head
School Nurse for the Cumberland County Schools, has noticed a positive
change in attitude with the children we send to the camp. Most of our kids want
to return year after year as they develop life long friendships and learn how to
live with their disease. We also support efforts to confront Type II Diabetes
where changes in lifestyle and diet can reduce or even eliminate the effects of
diabetes which escalate as the disease rages on.
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE
Please join us!!!
